Food review – Hotel Anjappar, Indiranagar, Bangalore

Being suggested to post my first and foremost food review, here comes ANJAPPAR one of my most favorite restaurant in Bangalore. After a long hunt for restaurant serving authentic chettinad food, we found ANJAPPAR which best suits our family.

ANJAPPAR is an authentic chettinad restaurant, which has its own taste and aromatic flavor. We almost visit Indiranagar branch once in a week, mostly on weekends. We have visited two of the branches, but being comfortable with the one in INDIRANAGAR, which is nearer to our home.


It holds almost 100 seats, spacious which is nestled in the heart of Indiranagar. Situated in the 1st floor of MSK Plaza, 100 feet road with a spacious car park with securities and a small reception counter and waiting area. Also it’s well designed with decorative lights and beautiful paintings.


ANJAPPAR is commonly known for its chettinad cuisine. But here they provide both chettinad and north Indian. We rarely had any north Indian cuisine, we had tandoori chicken, Barbeque fish other than that we tasted all the chettinad dishes. There are few favorite recipes for us such as Ceylon egg parotta, Poondu jeeragam chicken (Garlic cumin chicken), Idiyappam, Appam, paya, Crab lollipop, Chicken drumstick, Anjappar spl fried chicken, Chicken dosa, Yelaneer payasam (Tender coconut payasam), Mutton bone soup, last but not least MEALS which comes with 3 curries (Mutton, chicken, fish), 2 poriyals, 2 chapthi’s, rasam, curd, buttermilk, a pickle, appalam/pappadam and a sweet.


Before allotting seat to us, the tables were well cleaned and well placed with placemats and spoons. While taking the order, the waiter suggests about that day’s special recipes and then continues with our order. They also customize the spiciness in the food according to our taste buds/ needs.


Though we have home delivery option, I don’t suggest for this option. Because you don’t get the same aroma and flavor as it’s served at the restaurant.
