Press Release for World On A Plate – 2 at VR Bengaluru, Bangalore

One of the most memorable, precious, happy moment, that I got to attend the Press Release of the World On A Plate – Edition 2 conducted at VR Bengaluru, Whitefield, Bangalore, on behalf of the celebration of VR Bengaluru’s 1st Anniversary.

About VR Bengaluru: VR Bengaluru is a Virtuous Retail South Asia’s flagship center in the city and is a first-of-its-kind community centric integrated lifestyle destination in India. VR Bengaluru plays host to an award-winning luxury boutique hotel & residences, collaborative communal work spaces for start-ups and entrepreneurs and a multi-level premium retail arcade.  It also includes a nine-screen multiplex including an IMAX, several pubs, cafes and restaurants along with an upscale food curt, community event spaces, public art, a fitness club, spa and salon and a rooftop pool alongside a unique banqueting space with a large-scale LED screen.

The nickname “Black Box on Whitefield Road” is inspired by the striking black façade, which makes VR Bengaluru stand out from the generic building landscape on Whitefield Main Road. Equally compelling is the unique mix of experiences and the integrated design of the development that enables customers to move seamlessly among the different uses. Also it’s my neighborhood, where I spend most of times in shopping, movies, eating and so on. Even though it was my neighborhood, imagining the Bangalore Traffic, I wanted to reach at least 10 mins earlier, the same way I got to reach the place 20 mins earlier.

Karunadu Swada – Karanataka Food Festival by MTR

Standard

Got an invite for “Karunadu Swada” at the MTR Food Festival by 21st January for experiencing one of Karnataka’s oldest cuisines at St. Johns Auditorium, Koramangala, Bangalore.

First there was a Blogger’s meet organized by MTR with Chef. Chandri Bhat, she shares her culinary secrets and origin stories of Karnataka cuisine. She demonstrated the preparation of a cashew fruit based curry with potatoes, a kheer which is prepared by steaming the rice dumplings and later simmered in coconut milk. I would say it was yum, heavenly and delicious.

More over the best part that I loved over there was, it was not only the food but also, she shared the history of the food and its preparation right from the idly, hayagreeva halwa to mysore pak.

I was astonished when she shared the secret of Idly as they were prepared by steaming the ground black lentils without fermentation. Also, she added that the authentic and traditional mysore pak was the one with pores and crispy, not the soft once. She did share about a treasured book (culinary) which was passed to her from her great grandmother. Loved the way she cooked, share the secrets and her experience in culinary world.

After this blogger meet, we had a lunch, where we could get all the Karnataka’s authentic and traditional food in one place right from the Thatte Idly to the hayagreeva halwa. Also, there was stalls based on each and every region of Karnataka with their familiar food right from Mangalore till Kodagu. The food was great, loved it to the core – happy me and yummy tummy – as I got to have most of my favorite’s all together – Rava Idly, Thatte Idly, Bisibelebath, Masala Dosa, Tharvada peda and so on.

Food Review – Skylit in Citrus Hotels, Cunningham Road, Bangalore

Standard

Got an invite for Skylit (roof top restaurant) of citrus hotel at Cunningham road on Saturday for Dinner. Skylit - Citrus Hotels Menu, Reviews, Photos, Location and Info - ZomatoThis time I am not struck in traffic, and so reached the place right on time. Skylit restaurant was at 5th floor of citrus hotel, when I got into the restaurant, felt like I was in ooty. Because of the weather, the sky drizzling with a soft and gentle breeze, also the music, lightings of the place was fantastic. Loved the place to the core and will say a perfect place for family hangover and a romantic dinner 😛

Coming to the food, there was a big spread in the buffet from starter till the desserts. When few of foodie friends arrived, we got seated in the table which was reserved for us. The manager of the hotel shared the information about the property, also he stated that they commonly serve 16 starters including both veg and non-veg and this was the highlight of skylit. One more interesting I found there was their CLEANSER – they serve cleanser after 3 dishes are served. The purpose of serving cleanser is to help people consume more food. Also we had a good time with loads of chat in the lovely weather with prefect food. Let me share about the food we had –

All the food we had was very yummy and perfectly good – these are must to try in their list – Crazy Bagha Crabs, Jalapeno Frittata and never forget the cleanser – a mix of cucumber, curd/yogurt.

Due to the fantastic weather and yummy food, I was focused on eating and forget to click the pictures of main course. A must to try for Bangaloreans.
