Custard Pudding

Recently I had this custard pudding in a restaurant, as a custard lover, I love this Custard pudding to the core. Not only me, also my kids liked it. Thought of preparing custard pudding at home, it was too good and delicious – a perfect dessert after a heavy meals or biryani. Also a very good source for making kids consume milk and fruits. Let me share the recipe…

Custard Pudding

Ingredients:

  • Marie Biscuits – 30 nos
  • Custard – 2 cups
  •   Fruits (Apple, Banana) – each 2 nos

Preparation:

  •   Take a bowl, start layering them with biscuits, break few biscuits and fill them in the gaps (sides).
  •   Peel and finely chop the fruits, add it to the custard and mix well.
  •   Pour the custard over the layered biscuits, leave it for 15 mins.
  •   Refrigerate for 15 to 30 mins.

Serve chilled. You can also serve them at room temperature by topping with vanilla flavored ice cream or fresh cream or caramelized Fruits.

Kids Kitchen Tour with California Pizza Kitchen-India

Got a kid and your kid loves pizza – want him/her to know about the story of pizza – Walk into California Pizza Kitchen on Sunday’s 11 a.m to 12.30 p.m and 4.30 p.m to 6 p.m to join them in their Kitchen Tours. In kitchen tours, they share the story of pizza with the kids, kids get to know how pizza is prepared, what all to be used in pizza and they prepared their own pizza with the chef’s help. Last week I have been invited for the Kitchen Tours, it was lovely, happy and excited to watch my kids (9 yrs and 5 yrs), preparing their own pizza.

My experience: Being a food blogger, at times my daughter used to help me in kitchen, the most excited thing was my younger one, preparing the pizza. It was a lovely and beautiful day being a mother to watch my kids preparing pizza. They gave them the menu and asked them to select the pizza of their choice. My daughter chose Hawaiian Pizza, whereas my son chose BBQ Pizza. They were given the pizza bread, and the ingredients required for the pizza (sauces, freshly chopped veggies, fruits and chicken).

Kids where first told what all they require for their pizza, and then they started spreading the sauce required for that pizza, then topped them with the ingredients required for the pizza and finely sprinkled grated cheese all over the pizza. Once when they are done with these works, they took the pizza and baked those pizza, in front of the kids. Kids were let near the oven to look over the process of baking the pizza.

Once when the pizza was baked, these kids were let to have their own pizza. Every kids was happy to have the pizza prepared by them, also they shared the pizza with us. Also they were given a certificate stating, “Certified Pizza Maker”. What a lovely feeling to have the pizza prepared by your kids???

Madraasi with Kids – Week 4

As weeks start growing, I could see the interest and passion towards cooking in these kids. There are few who come 30 mins before the class and start asking me about the dish, the preparation and even the healthiest part of consuming the dish.

The main motive of this class is to stop kids consuming junk foods, when they knew to cook, they themselves prepare what they need. I feel really happy and proud, when I came to know from their mother’s, that they cook the same dish at home. Also the whole family loved the food and this would be most pride moment of Being Madraasi.

This week we had two classes and due to exams there were only three of the kids coming to the class, among three (two were the youngest in the class).

Frittata is an Italian dish prepared with egg as a key ingredient. Indian Frittata is the same as frittata but I have induced Indian spices like chili powder, cumin powder and garam masala, so the name. A good one for breakfast, I have also induced potatoes and carrots. Because of the egg, carrots, cheese, butter, potato it been a healthiest dish for kids. You can also add spinach to it.

ButterMilk

As summer started, I wanted teach at least few coolants, and here comes ButterMilk (Indian coolant) available at all Indian houses throughout the summer.

Bread Gateau is an English recipe, gateau meaning a dish containing layers of fruits and cheese. As of summer, we could see varieties and colourful fruits and thought why to not go with fruits and also on the same hand it should be healthy for kids. Here comes my Bread Gateau, Bread Gateau goes out well for breakfast and as a dessert.
