Madraasi Deepavali Celebration – 2017 / Diwali 2017 celebrations at home

Standard

Deepavali / Diwali is an important Indian (Hindu) festival celebrated by all the Indians in India and across the world. As we are in the land of “Unity of Diversity”, each and every state people celebrate it in their own way, also Diwali is celebrated in two different states whereas south Indian celebrates it on 18 oct and North Indian celebrates it on 19th oct. Being a south Indian and living together with so many region people in our apartment, glad we got to celebrate it for 2 days.

Madraasi Deepavali Celebrations at home / Diwali celebration 2017

We (South Indian) wake up, early in the morning, apply oil to the head, take bath, later start preparing snacks and food for pooja. Once they are done, we perform pooja, get blessing from the elders, and elders of our family distribute the new dress to everyone. After wearing the new dress, we have our breakfast, and the breakfast would be served in a banana leaf with too many sweets and savories that has been prepared all over a week time. As sharing is caring we distribute sweets and savories prepared in our home to our neighbors, friends – wishing them Happy DEEPAVALI.

Taking this to Fiesta Friday #134 hosted by Angie@thenovicegarderner.

After the sweets distribution, here comes the best part of a year waiting – It’s the crackers section. We start bursting crackers, with family, friends, with loads of fun and joy. After bursting few crackers, we return home and start watching the Television as there will be more and more fun filled program, also there will be numerous movie getting released for this Diwali. It would be more fun and super thrilled getting tickets for our favorite star movie, and then watching them at the Cinemas with the whole family as a group. Then over the evening we lit Deepam / Diya perform pooja and then during nights we start bursting out the crackers, sparkle sparklers, chakras, flowerpots and so on.

How I (MADRAASI) made my 2016?

Wishing you all a Happy, Healthy, Wealthy, Success and Peaceful NEW YEAR 2017

When I see everyone posting their resolutions and was asked to blog about my resolutions and happenings in last year. First I would like to say that, I don’t make any resolutions, somehow I believe that when I plan to execute things, it never happens (how hard I try) may be I would fall sick or someone in home or problem with my laptop or personal issues. Even if it happens it might not meet my satisfactory level. Apart from all these thought of following some things that I like to, may be this would be the resolution or my desire in life.

happy new year, happy new year 107, new year, new year 2017

Happy New year 2017 from Madraasi

About last year – Last year was wonderful and good to me in my blogging world. I got invite for events where I got to meet celebrities – Australian Master Chef. George Colambaris, Indian Master Chef. Sanjeev Kapoor, Master Chef. Shaun Kenworthy and Master Chef. Abhijit Saha. It felt like flying in the sky and that was a “PINCH ME MOMENT” for me.

Kitchen Connection – it was an online platform where I was given an opportunity to teach my recipes all over the world. Also there was a desire to do video recipes, where I created my YouTube account by 2014 and this kitchen connection was been a great motivation in bringing my channel live.

Food Revolution by Jamie Oliver – Joined Jamie Oliver’s Food Revolution as an Ambassador, also got to opportunity to collaborate with them and it’s been and being a proud moment for me. Check out this recipe – Chicken Vermicelli Biryani from Leftover Whole Stuffed Roasted Chicken and say no to Food Waste.

I have been working with many brands not only the food brands but also with home interiors, things related with kids as a parenting blogger where I got to recognized as a LIFESTYLE blogger and also few travel based clients based on food and travel with hotels and restaurants, online hotel platforms. Check out my reviews – CLICK HERE.

Got featured in leading magazines like Deccan Herald (Bangalore), Kumudam Snehidhi and Dt_Nxt (Tamil Nadu).

Happiest thing was my YouTube Channel – MADRAASI where I got to share my video recipes; it’s been just 4 months but got wonderful and lovely response. Do like and subscribe with us for easy and simple VIDEO recipes.

A Home Chef event with Eastern Condiments at my home discovered the tutor in me and let me know that I can teach my recipes.

I also got to design a Beautiful visiting card for me as a Madraasi, never expected all these would happen, when I started my life as Housewife a decade back.

Coming to the blog through which I got connected with few wonderful people who has been my inspiration, motivation, energy booster,  support and would love to mention the name of a person among them – Geeta Sridhar who I address as Akka (elder sister), the way she smiles, works for society everyone should learn from her – a pride of WomenHood.

Worst part in last year – At the same time, also met the worst part of my blogging life and got to know that even people are ready to kill someone if they get something in blogging which involves copying, critizing fellow bloggers. Also experienced some strange things like getting added (unknowingly) to WhatsApp group and was thrown out as not being active (funny).

Social Media – Coming to social media, last year to be frank I was doing good with all my social media handles, but faced few bad experiences through Facebook and WhatsApp because of few people who loves the word “NEUTRAL” and I am frank to say that I am not “NEUTRAL” and don’t ever want to be “NEUTRAL” but love to be honest, faithful, trustworthy, positive, encouraging and friendly person.  My Instagram, Twitter, Pinterest which made me get connected and connecting with wonderful people. From the experience got through my Facebook and WhatsApp – I got to learn many things, which would help me survive in this blogging world.

Dream Came True – Apart from all these things, 2016 was being my dream came true year, as learnt stitching. I love being fashionate right from my childhood, but somehow it took these many years for my dream to come true. I did my basic stitching course where I got to learn the basics of stitching.  Happy, I got to stitch few varieties of frock and skirts for my daughter. Hopefully I will be heading to the next level in next couple of months.

Got an invite for the Diabetic Dessert Trail on Nov 13th on behalf of World Diabetic Day 2016 by Diabetic Food Trail with Britannia.

Diabetes Dessert Trail - World Diabetes Day 2016

Diabetes Dessert Trail – World Diabetes Day 2016

As every one of my followers knew that I collect Diabetic recipes for my diabetic hubby, was eagerly and when it comes to variety of diabetic desserts, it was much excited.

The Diabetic Food Trail is all set, once again, to offer Diabetics, Pre-Diabetics and Health conscious individuals, a wonderful culinary experience at over 200 restaurants across Mumbai, Delhi, Chennai, Bangalore & Pune. The Diabetic Food Trail is presented by Britannia Nutrichoice Essentials in association with Biocon, the largest Indian Insulins Company. Britannia and Biocon have once again partnered with DFT, this year along with Fitternity.com, Health & Nutrition and Burrp! By extending their support, Britannia Nutrichoice

The Diabetic Food Trail was founded by Seema Pinto and Manoj Pinto and is presented by Semora Entertainment Works. Seema Pinto, who is a diabetic, is very passionate about the Diabetic Food Trail, and hopes that in the years to come, the Diabetic Food Trail is not restricted to just 3 weeks in a year. Her vision is to see that all the restaurants will serve a healthy and diabetic friendly menu as part of the regular menu, thereby giving people a choice to eat healthy, throughout the year.

As we all knew that one in every 10 people have diabetic, this diabetic awareness program is to show that Diabetic is not a disease that needs medicine, but it’s about the food management – well-management diet and fitness program.

The Diabetic Dessert Trail started from

  • FAVA restaurant, where we had 2 desserts –
o Fresh Ricotta and Red Grape Timbale with NutriChoice Essentials 5 Grain Cookie crumble  and organic honey
o Sugar-free Callebaut Belgian Dark Chocolate Sorbet with Cut Fresh Fruits
  • CAPERBERRY restaurant – 2 desserts –
o Sugar-free Belgian Chocolate Decadence with NutriChoice Essentials Oats Cookie Crumble and fresh Berries (Eggless)
o Pannacotta (eggless and sugar free) with Orange compote, Vanilla sauce and crunchy Tuile

    • SMALLY’S RESTOCAFE
o No Bake Muesli Cheesecake with NutriChoice Essentials Oats Cookies
o Twisted Ragi Choco Cake with NutriChoice Essentials Ragi Cookies

  • RITZ CARLTON
      o Apple Plum Strudel

o Apricot Cranberry Cup Cakes with NutriChoice Essentials Oats Cookies
o Blueberry Mint Parfait with NutriChoice Essentials Oats Cookies
Each and every dessert was yummy, delicious, and heavenly with low calories and was infused with natural sugar may be from the fruits or the dark chocolate.

Also I could hear all your mind voices; yeah the recipes will be updated one by one as we got to see few of the desserts demonstrated by the chef who curated the menu. Stay tuned with us.

After the dessert trail followed the fitness camp by fitternity.com, we headed to Tribe Fitness at Indira Nagar, Bangalore. Fitternity.com which was founded by Neha Motwani, says that “Eatig right and Working out” is the way to lead a healthy life. There we had a very informative session with their coach, actually most of them followed the exercises and taught by the coach. But I could never follow, which realized me that I am not fit. So most of us have thought that being lean is what being fit, but it’s absolutely wrong being fit means that your body is flexibe. It was very fun and two our foodie friends made us stunned with their head strands.
