Minty Tomato Punch

I could hear everyone, becoming dehydrated and getting more health issues, because of summer and so now onwards let’s start Beating the heat together with healthy, yummy and refreshing juices. I have already shared few summer recipes last year – CLICK HERE for more summer recipes.

Minty Tomato Punch is a tangy, as you desire you can turn in sweet by adding sugar or salty by adding salt. A healthy juice with a combination of mint, tomato, lemon and roast cumin seeds powder, which comes with a tangy, aromatic and refreshing flavor and perfect drink for this summer. Not only for the summer, this juice can be consumed all over the year. Let me share the recipe…

Ingredients:

  • Lemon – 2 nos (medium size)
  • Tomato – 5 nos (medium size)
  • Mint – 3 strands
  • Cumin powder – ½ tsp
  • Salt to taste
  • Sugar – 3 tbsp (optional).

Preparation:

  • Clean and roughly chop the tomatoes.
  • Clean and separate the mint leaves from mint stalk.
  • Take tomatoes and mint leaves, in a mixer jar and grind them for 3 mins or until the tomatoes are ground well.
  • Add a cup of water, grind it for few mins.
  • Strain the juice and transfer the ground flesh to the mixer and grind with one more cup of water.
  • Strain the juice, sprinkle cumin powder and salt. Mix it well.
  • Add one more cup of water, mix it well.
  • Add sugar if you prefer it sweet else serve it.

Refrigerate and serve chilled or make use of cold water while mixing the juice and serve chilled. Garnish with finely chopped tomatoes and a mint leaf strand, just before you serve.

Cucumber Fruit Sharbat

As my friend was to Trichy, he got me this (Cucumber Fruit/Vellaripazham/Puttupazham) fruit. I couldn’t take the full picture of this cucumber fruit as it was bursted. Being a food blogger and a recipe developer, nowadays my friends use to get something may be a special or something new and fully related to the food and suggest me to develop a recipe, it may be from their hometown or happens even there are on touring. When they have completely a different food with unique taste, they collect the details of the food and keep me updated about those food and suggest to create depending on it. Having people who support us in my each and every move may be a passion or profession is like a boon – Feeling Blessed.

Cucumber Fruit commonly known as Vellari pazham or Puttu pazham. These fruits one of the seasonal fruits, you get to see these fruits in every nook and corner streets of Tamil Nadu. During my childhood, my mom use to get this fruit, peel of the skin and sprinkle sugar over the fruit and leave it as such for some 30 mins, after that we get to eat these fruits. It would be heavenly, not only in taste but also its very healthy and a best coolant for summer.

Yields – 3 to 4 person

1 Cup – 160 ml (regular rice cooker cup)

Cucumber Fruit Sharbhat

Ingredients:

  • Cucumber Fruit – 3 cup
  • Nannari Syrup – 4 tsp
  • Salt – a pinch

Preparation:

  • Peel the skin of cucumber and keep the cucumber in a wide mouth bowl.
  • Roughly mash the cucumber with a fork.
  • Pour in the nannari syrup and sprinkle a pinch of salt, give a stir, and let it rest for 10 mins.

Serve immediately.

 

Orange Juice

Oranges are one of the most familiar summer fruit and I prepare orange juice very now and then not only on summer, even in winters but with Luke warm water. Orange comes with too much of nutrition, mainly they are good in folic acid and folic acid is most important for women’s health.

Glucose plays an important role in summer. Usually glucose taste good, when combined with orange juice instead of sugar… too healthy, an apt and tasty drink for summer. Kids love this lot.

Moreover, this juice is very good for pregnant women, which helps to get rid of diabetics during pregnancy and a good source of medicine during diarrhoea. Let us move on to the recipe…

Orange Juice with Glucose

Orange Juice with Glucose

Ingredients:

  • Orange juice – ½ cup
  • Water – 3 cups
  • Glucose – 3 tbsp

Preparation:

Mix all these ingredients together, refrigerate and serve chilled.

Note: Prepare with luke warm water during winters.
